Hired Audience For 'Jai Bolo Telangana'?

It is just a little more than two weeks since “Jai Bolo Telangana,” the much-hyped film on Telangana agitation, has been released. The first two days were really encouraging for producer-director N Shankar as the theatres ran for packed houses.
But as the days passed, the theatres have become empty. Though many theatres took the film off, there are still some theatres which are being forced to run the shows under pressure from Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders.
According to reports from Telangana districts, the TRS leaders have got instructions from the Telangana Bhavan to purchase tickets in bulk and mobilize people to see the movie free of cost. And in some places, the local TRS leaders are also supplying Biryani packets to the audience to sit through the entire show and dance to the songs in the theatre.
Interestingly, Shankar himself told a Telugu television channel that the film did not fetch over 30 per cent of the revenues. He admitted that the film is running in empty theatres in several places. And in Seemandhra region, it did not run even for three or four days. Well, how long one can run the film with hired audience? Though the theme was good, Shankar has miserably failed to project the movement in proper spirit and give it a momentum. Perhaps it was why TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao walked out of the preview theatre!

Telangana Director Betrayed Andhra Actor

Telangana activists say that Seemandhra people have betrayed them. They say that they have toed them down without giving any scope to grow. But what Telangana director N Shankar is doing?

We all know that N Shankar made the film ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’ where a few Andhra artistes also acted. Vasu, who played the role of Vijayawada Chanti got good response in theatres for the negative role he played. But N Shankar didn’t give him any scope to appear in any TV channel for interview with an idea to suppress him. He made it a point to prevent any Andhra artiste worked in his film from getting popularity.

Now Vasu is expressing his woe every where stating the injustice he has been facing. He says that N Shankar is seen on TV channels with many artistes who played even small roles in the film but never gave a single chance for him.
Well, Telangana director should know that he needs to stand an example first to inspire others and win on others.

'Threat Warning' To Tollywood Director

Too much greed will always lead to fatal consequences. Right now that seems to be the case with the Tollywood director N Shankar. Well, it is known news that he has been riding high with the success of his recent venture ‘Jai Bholo Telangana’ but then the success seems to have planted an evil thought in his mind.

The story is that Shankar got Rs 3 crores from K T Rama Rao for the film. The understanding was that once profits are made, Shankar was expected to return the investment and part with a share of the profit to the TRS party fund. However, sources reveal that the director chalked a plan.

It is heard that N Shankar reported to KTR that the budget for the film touched Rs 6 crores. Well, unit members reveal that Shankar had given remuneration to Jagapathi Babu and Smriti Irani and the others hardly got peanuts. On the other hand, he is reportedly looking to buy a flat in jubilee hills along with a car. With all this, update is that the Telangana leaders gave a threat warning to N Shankar to come up with the actual figures or else he will be history. Let us see what he does now.

Lagadapati's Comment On 'Jai Bholo Telangana'

The hot talk of the T-region right now is ‘Jai Bholo Telangana’ and just when some of them thought that this will hamper the spirits of non-Telangana folks, here is an interesting one. The noted producer Lagadapati Sridhar, the younger brother of Lagadapati Raja Gopal got to share his thoughts on the film.

He wrote in his Facebook like this -”Saw Jai Bholo, better movie than most of the masala flicks. Gaddar song was the highlight”.
Well, the perception is that Lagadapati family is meant to be opposing the separate Telangana state but Sridhar has shown that cinema is beyond such barriers.

While his opinion on the film got a fair share of applauses, many are waiting to see what his brother Lagadapati Rajagopal has to say on the film. Like Sridhar, many are giving the brownie points to Gaddar’s song than the film but the line from the Lagadapati scion sure makes a lot of difference and calls for appreciation.

Mafia Power Of Telangana Movie

The Telangana movement is no longer a thing of sentiment, it is about a movement which is being cashed by few cheesy individuals for their own needs. Atleast that is the feeling many got after hearing about the way the film ‘Jai Bholo Telangana’ made its way into the theatres.

Apparently, the film got released in about 150 theatres Statewide and it is heard that the T-folks stopped the screening of a few running films like ‘Mirapakaya’, Golconda High School’ and ‘Wanted’ for one day and got their film released. The objective behind that was to capitalise the hype created and get good opening collections. With the fear of Telangana agitators many theatre owners obliged the demand.

On the whole, the trade analysts say that due to the Gaddar factor, the response for the film will grow in the hardcore Telangana areas. They add that more than a sentiment, the film might work as an entertainer with good folk songs. If a film like this has managed to create such grip on the theatre network, one can imagine the big hands behind this.

Who Is Real Hero: KCR Or Gaddar Or Jagapathi Babu

Any film’s success always depends on the hero factor and how well he shoulders it throughout the duration. However, a dilemma has risen over the latest release ‘Jai Bholo Telangana’ and those who watched it are now trying to figure out who is the actual hero of the film. For now, there are three contenders- KCR, Gaddar, Jagapathi Babu. Each of them has played a key role in this project but here is an analysis on the topic.

For starters, KCR started a movement and though the basis for that is sheer politics, it has turned out to be a great movement. However, he was once the kingpin of this movement but it has gone beyond his control as many groups have risen seeing the potential in it. Today, KCR is used more like a reference panel but each group has its own agenda and motives in the name of Telangana movement.

As for the director N Shankar, he had a good chance to come up with something historical but he has not used it in the right way. If he was able to educate the audience on the essence of Telangana instead of a silly love story and unwanted offensive comments, then he would have marked a name for himself in history. Anyways, it looks obvious that he doesn’t have the brains for something ambitious like that and he seems to be a small time commercial thinker trying to take advantage of a sentiment and making a quick buck.

It is not sure why Jagapathi Babu took up this role but the positive side of it is, he has shown that regions are no barrier when it comes to cinema. However, the etching of his character was not that powerful and though he is the hero technically, he was unable to get the certificate from the audience.

So, the time has come for the real hero of the film. He is none other than Gaddar. This revolutionary ballad singer came up with ‘Podustunna poddu…’ and that single number was enough to put the crowds into frenzy. While youth got hysteric with the song, the energy levels of Gaddar and his thrust in vocals was enough to boost a mania beyond control. He may not be a success in politics but he sure is an icon in the Telangana area which was clearly visible with the audience response when they saw ‘Jai Bholo Telangana’. The major part of film’s success should be attributed to Gaddar.

What's Wrong With 'Jai Bolo Telangana?'

The much-talked about film “Jai Bolo Telangana” directed by N Shankar on the backdrop of Telangana statehood agitation is facing troubles from Censor Board.
The film, scheduled to be released on January 28, could not get the nod from Censor Board, which obviously felt that the film, if released in its present form, might foment further troubles between the people of Telangana and Andhra regions. Some of the scenes and dialogues are said to be hurting the sentiments of Seemandhra people. The Board wanted all those scenes, dialogues and songs be deleted from the film.
Shankar, who made an appeal to the Central Censor Board, made it clear that he would not agree for any cuts. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi activists and OU students joint action committee leaders stormed the Censor Board office in Samachar Bhavan and staged a dharna.
The Telangana protagonists argue that the film was based on factual situations and there were no derogatory comments against other regions. Moreover, since the film will be released mostly in the Telangana region, there is no way the Andhra people would be agitated, they said.

Distributors Don’t Care For ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’

It was with much hype and hoopla the film ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’ has been made and while the release date is three days away, trouble is still on to get distributors. So now, it is heard that producer- director Shankar is desperately looking for distributors who are not showing any interest in buying the film.

Already, Shankar had to produce the film since no producer from the T-region came forward and so far, only 30 theatres have come forward to screen the film. Even the T-leaders are not doing much about it and they were candid in saying it was ‘business’ that came in the front now and sentiment doesn’t really matter.

On the other hand, the new release ‘Wanted’ has taken lot of theatres so Shankar and co are hoping that if the film doesn’t do that well the chances of replacing it with his film are possible. For now, Shankar is surely paying a heavy price for his love of the land as no one from his own region are showing interest in his project.
