Telugu Families Garlanding Prabhas!!

It has been quite a while since the Telugu film industry has seen a clean family entertainer in the top league movies. But right now, one man seems to have struck a chord. He is none other than Prabhas and news is that his latest offering ‘Mr Perfect’ seems to have scored a perfect 10 from the family audience.

News is that ‘Mr Perfect’ is being declared as the biggest hit of the year in India. Reports from overseas reveal that the film could be the highest collection grosser in Prabhas’s career with the figures touching Rs 1 crore already.

The collection pundits estimate that since the family audience likes it, a record can be registered. On the other hand, many Telugu households are waiting to garland Prabhas for coming up with a feel good family entertainer. Wonder what must be going through our ‘Mr Perfect’s mind right now…

Can Telugu Film Industry recover???

Can Telugu Film Industry recover???With strikes and hartals, both from the workers inside and the forces outside, Telugu Film Industry is halting its work very often these days. Apart from this, somersaulting of Big-budgeted and big heroes movies at the Box Office is also on a rise. Can Telugu Film Industry recover from all these blows, is the question now!

All this work halting from insiders is directly related to increasing daily wages and remunerations of the 24 crafts people involved in movie making. However, with no good profits in producers pockets, their expectations are watered always. For this, a decent hit is needed at the Box Office. High profile flicks like 'Parama Veera Chakra' and 'Shakti' tumbled in their initial weeks to create deficit at the starting of 2011. To worsen this bad situation, Pawan Kalyan's 'Teen Maar' is losing collections at B&C centres despite of positive talk. Prabhas' 'Mr.Perfect' also looks dull at some parts and all those ingredients in it are not able to predict a steady performance of it.

With no money minting flicks in the scenario, the exhibitors and distributors are getting pushed into worst situations. Looks like Telugu Industry is placing itself into a no-recovery situation with no good flicks. It's time for Telugu directors and writers, to tighten their shoe strings for giving a ray of hope in this dampening situation. Hope at least anyone among '100% Love', 'Nenu Naa Rakhsasi' or 'Badrinath' bails TFI out of the crisis.

'Mr Perfect' Review: Perfect With Slight Imperfection

Rating: 3/5Banner: Sri Venkateshwara Creations
Cast: Prabhas, Kajal, Taapsee, K Vishwanath, Prakashraj, Sayaji Shinde, Nasser, Murali Mohan, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Master Bharat etc
Music: Devisri Prasad
Cinematography: Vijay K Chakravarthy
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh
Director: Dasaradh
Producer: Dil Raju
Release date: 22/04/2011

Prabhas is back and after almost a year. He paired up with Kajal and it is also a crucial big budget venture for producer Dil Raju. Let us see how perfect this gets..

Story
Vicky (Prabhas) who lives in Australia grows with a rule that he would never compromise for anything he doesn’t like. Given his practical thinking, he wants everything to be perfect, even in relationships. The marriage of his sister gets him to India and here he meets Priya, daughter of his father’s friend (Murali Mohan). As such, Vicky’s father (Nasser) wants him to get married to Priya.
Initially, both Vicky and Priya feel repulsive but in no time, Priya starts falling in love. She begins to change herself to suit Vicky’s life and thoughts. However, when the moment comes, Vicky gives his practical outlook and returns to Australia.
Here, he meets Maggi (Taapsee) through a competition and feels she is the perfect one. How perfect is Maggi for Vicky? How true is Priya’s love for Vicky? How correct is Vicky in his thoughts? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Prabhas has given a decent performance. He scores in his outfits and timing of dialogues but he should have reduced the mannerism of keeping his hand in pant pocket in almost all scenes, might look like fashion and style but felt like an overdose.

Kajal Agarwal is expressively beautiful and is drop dead gorgeous in sarees. She is a visual treat to the audience and steals few more hearts with her endearing smiles. Performance wise, she was apt.

Taapsee looks hot and fits the bill rightly given her character. The dubbing suited her expressions and she fills the glamour quotient.

K Vishwanath was elegant, Prakashraj was matured, Sayaji Shinde was noisy, Nasser was natural, Brahmi tried to bring few smiles, Raghu Babu was jarring, Master Bharat was regular. The ladies did their bit to support.
Highlights
  • Prabhas- Kajal screen chemistry
  • Locations and cinematography
  • Costumes
  • Theme of the film
  • Screenplay
Drawbacks
  • Second half
  • Weak emotional scenes
  • Overdose of moral preaching
Analysis:
The film comes across as a clean, family entertainer and the intention of the makers must be appreciated. Their attempt to reiterate the values of love, life, relationships in today’s world is acknowledged. However, dealing with such human subjects requires humane feel and a deft handling of the script, that was missing here.
As such, the protagonist goes with the flow of destiny but there is nothing significant he does to perfect the situations. He is more on the receiving end most of the time. On the other hand, the idea of a girl willing to adapt herself like that was rather unconvincing (of course, finding a girl like that in today’s times is jackpot fortune).
First half comprises with good humor and flow of drama. And second half also continues in similar fashion recalling the blend of Santhosham and Bommarillu but with weak handling of emotions. Required emotion is not carried in the fag end of the film and hence it appeared weak.
The film deals with the understanding of relations between younger generation and the older ones. The plus point in the film is that all the songs are good with pleasing music and sensible lyrics. But all are situational songs and no duets are seen in this genre of film, surprisingly.
Having said that, the film appeals largely due to the conviction in the belief of love, sharing and how few things in life cannot be got merely by rational thinking. At the box office, this is a treat for the family audience and given the craze for Prabhas and Kajal, the openings will be strong. Overall, this would be anywhere between an average and profit grosser.
Bottomline: For family audience

New Releases: Dum Maro Dum And Mr Perfect

The weekend is approaching and it is time to look at what is going to hit at the theatres. This week, there are two movies and one is Telugu and one is Hindi. The reason we are focusing on the Hindi flick is it has a Telugu lad who is making his debut.

First in the list is ‘Dum Maro Dum’ and this marks the debut of Daggubati Rana in Bollywood. He has paired up with the super hot Bipasha Basu and already, their ‘pairing’ caused a sensation off the sets. The film also has Abhishek Bachchan and it is produced by Rohan Sippy. Watch out for the item song of Deepika Padukone in this.

Then comes ‘Mr Perfect’ and this has Prabhas in the lead and he is flanked by Kajal Agarwal and Taapsee Pannu. The film is a wholesome family entertainer and the music by Devisri Prasad got a decent response. This is directed by Dasrath while Dil Raju is the producer. So, here’s wishing the best of success to both films.

Dil Raju's Record: 1 Production @ 5 Years

Dil Raju's Record: 1 Production @ 5 Years
Touted as the biggest producer and distributor of Telugu Film Industry, Dil Raju is into creating all sorts of records. Being a head of ‘Cost Cutting Committee’, this star-producer doesn't seem to know what that 'cost-cutting' is. Have a look at his record to know the news.

Dil Raju is sending shivers down the spines of Telugu directors and distributors after working on a movie for a long time of 5 years. Finally, after five years of haul, 'Mr.Perfect' is hitting screens on 22nd April to rejoice movie lovers. Let us see if the movie creates any other record other than this one created by Dil Raju.

Inside Talk: 'Mr Perfect', 'NNR' And '100% Love'

Inside talks are quite crucial for any film and it gets more significance when the film is of a big star and a big banner. Theoretically, the inside talk stands at 90% accuracy and so, many within the cine circuit and outside wait for it. Here is a look at three promising ventures in Tollywood.

Mr Perfect – Rumor has it that this is a recycled version of ‘Orange’, if that is true then the film is a goner. The bright side is, the audio is a hit and the number ‘Rao Gari Abbai…’ is a chartbuster, the presence of Prabhas, Kajal, Taapsee is another plus point. So, if it is any different from the rumor then it will have good chances at the box office.

Nenu Naa Rakshasi- This is coming up with an unusual flavor. Inside talk reveals that all characters in the film will have negative shades except one person. This is a film noir genre which has been adopted by director Puri Jagannadh and we have seen that happening in Hollywood, for eg: The Italian Job, The Heist etc are few examples. This is more of an experiment in Telugu circuit so let us see how this goes.

100% Love – Unfortunately, the inside talk has been negative and it is rumored that the cinema has not come that well. The audio is average as per overall listener response. After watching Naga Chaitanya in Ye Maya Chesave, he will be seen with that as benchmark which might become a minus. The plus is, it has Tamannah, good team of technicians but given director Sukumar’s complicated thought process, it remains to be seen how the audience will receive it.

Top Producer's life in Pawan Kalyan hands

Top Producer's life in Pawan Kalyan hands
It is a very long period of 10 years that Pawan Kalyan never delivered a super hit like 'Khushi' or 'Tholi Prema'. Although producers lost faith on him with 'Johnny', 'Gudumba Shankar', 'Bangaram', 'Balu' and 'Puli', this is time for power star to regain his lost glory with 'Teen Maar'. Other side, producer Dil Raju anticipating the result of 'Puli' to repeat for 'Teen Maar' declared proudly about his project with Prabhas,'Mr. Perfect' hitting the screens on 21st of this month exactly in a week gap with Pawan Kalyan.

Dil Raju is also sailing in the same boat as other loss making producers in recent past with few disasters like 'Josh' and 'Maro Charitra'. This family entertainer 'Mr. Perfect' is considered as a life and death film for him. If Pawan Kalyan fortunately secures a super hit talk for 'Teen Maar', then there is no other way left for Dil Raju, either to postpone his project or bear the brunt. Let us see what happens.
