Ram Gopal Varma: A Maverick And Margadarsi

Recently, Allu Sirish wrote in his twitter about Ram Gopal Varma like this -”Dongala Mutha wrapped up in 4.5 days! he is really a rockstar! Ramu is the Steve Jobs of our industry: maverick & a margadarsi..”
In a way, there is no denying that Sirish was right in every word he wrote. Cinema and Tollywood have seen some crucial moments over the past few decades and it must be said that one reason for that was Ram Gopal Varma.

For now, his latest offering is ‘Dongalamutha’ and Ramu has wrapped up the film’s shooting in flat 5 days. True to his word that with the right technology a film doesn’t require long schedules, Ramu created ‘Dongalamutha’. Soon, he is planning to come up with another multi-starrer in Hindi titled ‘Department’ and he is looking to wind that up in 15 days. These are things that one would never have found possible but Ramu broke the jinx.

‘Department’ is expected to be shot using a steady cam and to those who don’t know, it was Ramu who baptized the Tollywood circuit into using Steady Cam. Now he is teaching on low budget flicks with modern technology. As has been his signature style, the flavor or genre of his films has always been different and mostly controversial. The unconventional thinker that he is, Ramu was successful in make-believing the audience that even a cycle chain (courtesy- Shiva) can be used for other purposes.

Most of his films like ‘Shiva’ ‘Satya’ ‘Company’ ‘Raatri’ ‘Sarkar’ ‘Rakta Charitra’ had something unique that the audience and cinema industry carried and they became more or less, trendsetters. Now, with his conservative approach on budget for cinema, Ramu is creating a revolution. A talk that is generating across film circles in India is that, Ramu is called as father of modern cinema.
